Comme pour beaucoup d'entre vous, en décident de venir m'installer au Canada, je m'attendais à avoir plein de défis, chercher un appartement, faire les démarches pour être admis dans l'assurance, m'adapter à la culture, à leur façon de vivre, le climat… trouver mon premier emploi dans le sol canadien. This person becomes their mentor over a period of time. The objective of being matched to a mentor is to help our participants integrate with ease into their professional field. The two people involved can thus develop a mentorship relationship.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The objectives of this program are to help unemployed man who has worked in the manufacturing industry with job preparation and with their integration into the job market. Each participant will learn strategies to prepare for their job search as well as useful information that will help them during their entire career.

PROGRAM CONTENT

Action Transition Program consists of a variety of interactive workshops given by professionals during an 8 weeks period. The workshops are offered in group settings of not more then 8 people. In this program you will learn about;

The importance of knowing yourself (Psycho tests on your work personality, aptitudes and interests);
How to determine your career objective;
How to transfer your skills;
Principles of a successful job search;
How to design the successful resume;
How to prepare for job interviews, theory and practice (filmed interviews);
Preparing your career portfolio;
How to write presentation letters;
How to create and produce your own business card;
Telephone interview techniques;
Tips on salary negotiation;
Tips on information interviews, networking activities;
Internet job search techniques;
Quebec's job market expectations;
Individual action plans and follow-up;
Visits to Business;
Work experience and on the job training (where required);
Computer and French classes.

ADMISSIBILITY

Receiving Employment Assistance, Employment Insurance or without income;
Being a man who has worked in the Textile / garment Manufacturing Industry;
Being able to follow the program in English or French
18 years old and over;
Unemployed;
Available Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m daily;
Ready to work (motivated and able to work);
Citizenship or permanent resident.

Employment Preparation Program

PROGRAM OBJECTIVE

The objectives of this program are to help participants with job preparation and with their integration into the job market. Each participant will learn strategies to prepare for their job search as well as useful information that will help them during their entire career.

PROGRAM CONTENT

The Employment Preparation Program consists of a variety of interactive workshops given by professionals during a 7 weeks period. The workshops are offered in group settings of not more then 20 people. This dynamic group program will enable you to share your experiences and develop your network. Each participant will be guided by their individual counselor for at least one hour per week. These one-on-one sessions will help you to determine the right career path for you. You will also be able to consult your counselor during the following 2 years after completing the program should you feel the need to do so.

In this program you will learn about:

The importance of knowing yourself (personality, aptitudes and interests inventories );
Individual counseling and career orientation;
How to determine your career objective;
How to transfer your skills;
Principles of a successful job search;
How to design the successful resume;
How to prepare for job interviews, the theory and practice (filmed interviews);
Preparing your career portfolio;
How to write presentation letters, thank you letters, references lists;
How to create and produce your own business card;
Telephone interview techniques;
Skill of salary negotiation;
Skill of information interviews;
Internet job search techniques;
Quebec's job market expectations;
Individual action plans and follow-up;
Networking events;
Mentorship and internship experience.

18 years old and over;
Able to speak and write French or English;
Unemployed;

HOW TO APPLY?

Take an appointment with an employment counselor by calling 514-948-0000.
During your appointment you will be asked to complete a questionnaire that will help us to know you better and determine your needs.
You will also obtain a form at this time for Emploi-Quebec when you meet with a counselor. This form will help us to complete your registration.
Take the form to your Local Employment Center (CLE) for the final approval in the program and when you next visit Centre Génération Emploi, make sure that you hand it to your counselor.
